When Andrew was in Vancouver week before last I put a camera into his bag and made him promise to take some seaside pics for me to paint from. :) I liked the logs bracing the beach, and the 4 stray logs by the water. I wonder were they pushed or did the earth actively resist our attempt to form it the way we wanted it, rather than let nature do as it pleased...
Didn't sketch this out beforehand, just painted it from nothing onto the canvas. Did reference a photo though. Some of my lines aren't matched up perfectly with the photo but I think it turned out well anyway.
My life...
Me: Bleeeh...
Andrew: what's wrong?
Me: Painting water is a bitch...
Andrew: That looks like believable water, hun. It's calmer but its believable.
Me: Yeah but it doesn't look like THAT water, THAT water has fine waves all in it.
Andrew: Maybe you should use the tiny brush instead of that brush.
Me: .........Maybe I'd of thought of that myself if I'd eaten breakfast. *goes for poptarts*
Andrew: Maybe!'
My water still isn't perfect, btw.
BTW, the Watchmen is one of the best movies I've seen in a while and I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.
We leave for Montreal Tuesday to go do the immigration interview and enjoy the city. If I don't post another painting before then I'll be back Saturday evening. GO GO GADGET GREEN CARD! I'm counting down the days... I've adjusted my playlist to reflect this with "L'ours" by Tricot Machine, as they are from Montreal and even though I have little idea what they are singing about I enjoy their music.

Hey Allison, I think your landscape reads well and like the sense of a specific day that it shows. Details shmetails its the scene as a whole that matters, yours works well and that is what all my favs go for.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate a thorough comment like that. :)
I'm off to Texas as of Wednesday, shipping my art supplies ahead of me by UPS. Expect some plein air from me not long from now. :)
