I let the painting dry completely then sat down and did a new layer on it, trying to 1) relax and be "painterly" rather than meticulous, its that organized critical mindset that I get into that seems to really ruin me when I paint and its something I need to work on. 2) fix some colors and remove the red paddle for now so I can add it in again later. (It was skewed the wrong way and I couldn't reconcile it so I just painted over it for now.)
I didn't paint much this last week (obviously) but I have been drawing like a mad woman. :) My friend Aly (Yup same name as me but she has 1 L where I have 2) had her baby in the beginning of January and this week told me she's ready to start working on that comic strip we wanted to do together 5 months ago.
So I've been refining my character's features and she has done some drawings but hasn't scanned them and sent them to me yet so I'm not sure how far along we are. We brainstormed opening panels and did some thumbnails for it, so its up to her what pace we go at as she wants to do the pencil work and then hand it to me for adjustments and inking.
And ofcourse the drawing got me to draw other things as well, and made me work on characters for 3 different graphic novels I want to write (and I just don't know which to sit down and do first really.)
My problem is I have tons of ideas, and I don't finish things before I start a new one. Likely I will end up working on all 3 graphic novels, and Aly and I's comic strip, at once. A pace that works as a non-working-visa'ed housewife but that I won't be able to keep up in University. So I should really pick one and work with Aly as well. I'd like to get at least 1 comic book done (say 15-20 pages?) before I go apply for Fine Arts & Education at either Houston Baptist University or University of Houston...
Its like deciding which of your children gets to play soccer but the others have to wait till next year lol.
Regardless it takes a lot of sleep away from me, I've had a lot of bonding time with my sketchbook and actually will have to go buy a new one soon, I've got about 30 pages, but that's 29 because I'm superstitious and never draw on the last page of my sketchbooks.

Wow it sounds like your hands are full! are you gonna make a seperate blog about your comics? or show some stuff here? I started when I a young chap drawing comics, maybe I'll post some some day..?. I would like to see your comic, either way.
I may start a blog for that, good idea... For now I've been posting sketchbook pages on my facebook but this would give me a reason to finish drawings with ink and scan them in...
I think the boat is coming along well. I can believe that it's sitting in water now.
Can't wait to see the comics! What fun that must be!
