More Drying Rack Thoughts

Einion @ Wet Canvas spotted my blog after reading a post of mine, and sent me a link to the DIY Drying Rack. Now, I don't have the tools available to cut up peg board like that, but it is something I could get Dad to make for me in Houston once we're moved down.

However this has set the gears turning in my head. The question is, what CAN I do with cheap shelving?

I think that after payday I will see if I can go to IKEA and look at the plastic shelving units they have, I know they have some that are going to fit my available space for under 20 bucks. Then I need to look at things like wire DVD holders and see if a couple of these would work for holding paintings upright to dry. If I can find (wouldn't it be a miracle!) some shelving that has pegboard-like holes, I can just measure the holes and get some dowl rods on the way home and make a shelving unit a lot like the DIY Drying Rack.

Or I could do a mini drawers set if the canvases fit it. (Again, will be bringing a few blanks with me to test for sizing and such.

I can't argue against ideas that could get me a functional drying rack for about 50 dollars.... :)

That's the one I was referring to before. I love the idea of it.

Yeah when I get back to Houston I'll have to ask my Dad really nicely to help me build one. Looks like something that could be completed in a Saturday afternoon.

Hey Allison, one of the first things I got when I started my Plein Air adventure many moons ago was the 9x12 wet panel box from Guerilla Painter, this thing holds 12 wet panels, travels and is industructable. (I'm not a salesman for them I swear!) I know you want a drying rack but you might like these if you check them out,?. they have em at Jerry's if you do.
